Values Statement

The following is a statement of those convictions that underlie our work and practices:

We are rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

We are committed to working within the Church in solidarity with its mission of evangelization, development and peace.

We are part of the Ignatian heritage of the Society of Jesus and its commitments and ways of proceeding.

As a Jesuit institution we are dedicated to seeking greater justice and peace in this world. Our struggle for justice and peace flows from faith and brings us back to an ever deeper faith.

Our social justice mission proclaims a preferential option for poor and marginalized peoples and seeks to strengthen their communities.

We support the economic, social, civil, political and cultural rights of people. We affirm the peoples' right to shape their destiny, to use their resources responsibly, and to create communities of faith and action.

We seek to build international links of solidarity between communities and institutions in Canada and in the developing world.

We value dialogue between diverse peoples, cultures and religions and the collaboration among them in the pursuit of common objectives.

This solidarity is rooted in compassion, mutual respect and exchange, gender equity and ecological sustainability.

We uphold accountability and transparency in the way we work and in the works that we support.
