On July 10th 2009, FUNDACIÓN AMAR Y SERVIR established the group of volunteers that will be leading their work in Toronto. The team is made up of Blanca Rico, Carlos Alberto Ruiz, Maria Elena Piedrahita, Martha Enciso, Sonia Meza, Karen Aguiar, Orfanda Maria and Diana Karolina Grimaldos.

The new Amar Y Servir volunteer team immediately went to work the following weekend at a number of community events. These included the Salsa on St. Clair festival where they were raising awareness about the work of Amar Y Servir in Colombia and Canada.

Amar Y Servir is made up of over four thousand volunteers in a variety of programs and projects linked with the work of the Jesuits in Colombia. The organization works in over 110 municipalities to promote peace, development and social justice for all Colombians.

The Toronto group is made up of members of the Colombian community in Toronto and is actively seeking volunteers for a variety of projects. Upcoming events in Toronto include a Community Garage Sale and a Potluck Dinner Fundraiser both taking place over the month of August.
