On May 16, 2006, CJI hosted an event with Fr. Jorge Serrano SJ director of the Fundación Amar y Servir at 1325 Bay Street, the office of the Jesuits of Upper Canada. The "Fundación Amar y Servir" (To Love and To Serve Foundation) is a foundation set by the Jesuit province of Colombia to support all work and activities for peace and sustainable development carried out by the Society of Jesus in in more then 106 municipalies of Colombia.

More than 30 Colombians attended the event where we saw a video on the Grassroot Schools for Sustainable Development, a project which the Jesuit institution CINEP has been carrying out in Magdalena Medio.

The event was part of a North American tour which the Foundation is undertaking involving more than 15 cities, during which it hopes to encourage Colombians living in North America to support the work for justice and peace in Colombia by offering their talents as volunteers for a one year placement in one of the Jesuit institutions there or through financial support. The campaign is called “500 hearts in Love with Colombia”.
