The Jesuit Response to Cyclone Nargys in Myanmar

The people of Myanmar desperately need immediate support to begin reconstructing their lives and their country after the crisis of Cyclone Nargys.

The Jesuits in Myanmar are responding to assist those affected by the cyclone, particularly children and the elderly, who are most vulnerable. They are also working with their partners to respond to the immediate emergency needs and to develop plans for reconstruction in those areas hardest hit by the cyclone.

Your donation to Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) will be used by Jesuits and their partners in Myanmar to restore the homes, roads, schools and hospitals that have been damaged or destroyed by the cyclone. CJI is in regular contact with Jesuits in the region who are monitoring the situation as it develops.

Your prayers are also requested for those who have died, for children orphaned by the disaster, for those who are injured, and for the survivors who have been left suffering.

Please join the Jesuits in assisting the people of Myanmar recover from this crisis and rebuild for the future.
