Programs St. Vincent de Paul
Hatighisha, India Fr. Paulose Ezhakunnel, SJ St Vincent de Paul Church is nestled among the tea estates where its parishioners work. People here are very poor and prey to malaria, which claims many lives. Last year, the parish distributed food and clothing when workers were "locked out" for several weeks due to a labour dispute. The parish has set up projects to address pressing societal problems. New initiatives included an Alcoholic Anonymous group, and eight new "balwadies" (kindergarten) schools, for children who normally would not attend school. The parish also supported the construction of two new village churches.  Return to All Programs
