Programs Jesuit Tsunami Relief & Rehabilitation
Galle, Sri Lanka Fr. Anton Pieris, SJ With some modest assistance generated by the generous enthusiasm of a school in Canada, the Jesuit Tsunami Relief and Rehabilitation could support the rehabilitation of a pre-school in a fishing village in southern Sri Lanka. The playground, which had been destroyed by the tsunami, was renovated with the villagers' help. An income generation project in mushroom cultivation, ruined by the tsunami, was also supported.
