The Easter Appeal of Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) for 2016 is now available and may be downloaded in PDF format from here.
This Easter we invite you to work with Canadian Jesuits International to help fulfill the promise that Ezekiel received in his vision of the valley of the dry bones – “you shall live.” This is a promise of true resurrection. As CJI director Jenny Cafiso put it: “We yearn for a life that goes beyond survival. Jesus promised a life where people’s dignity would be respected; he challenged practices and structures that prevented an abundant spiritual, material, emotional life for all.”
CJI is working with its partners in Africa, Asia and Latin America to address injustices that must be uprooted before all people can live and find a place on their own soil.
But we need your help! Here are just a few of the many ways you can support the promise of resurrection:
- the Mercy in Motion campaign of the Jesuit Refugee Service addresses the educational needs of refugees around the world
- the Jesuit initiative Comparte works with farmers in Latin America to implement new methods of production and distribution to achieve a livelihood with dignity
- the Human Life Development and Resource Centre of the Darjeeling Jesuits in India accompanies tea plantation workers, helping them to organize, secure their rights and improve their living conditions
