Fr David Norris SJ died at René Goupil House in Pickering last October 31, 2020. He celebrated his 80^th birthday two weeks earlier. Friends of CJI may remember him from the almost 20 years he spent working  in Zambia, primarily teaching at Chisekesi. Fr David also served for some years accompanying Indigenous peoples in Northern Ontario. He returned from Africa in 1997 and became involved with youth, working with high school students in the Pickering area, and with other pastoral ministries throughout Durham Region. With his broad smile, his guitar and his casual manner, he was quite popular with the students. He took regular breaks to serve for months at a time in Northern Ontario, which he considered to be a blessing.
