With great sorrow and much gratitude for his life of service, Canadian Jesuits International announces the death of Fr Anthony (Tony) Paul Milledge SJ. He died on June 9, 2014 at Jesu Ashram, Matigara, India.
Born in England and raised in Montreal, Tony Milledge entered the Jesuits in 1946 then went to Darjeeling in 1952. After ordination in 1958, he served in a variety of parishes. Father Tony was particularly successful in establishing primary schools as well as mother and childcare programs. He was working at Jesu Ashram, a refuge for the sick and the dying, since 2004.
Fr Tony is predeceased by his parents Henry and Ida Milledge, and by his brother John. He is survived by his brother Frank (Margaret) in Vancouver, B.C., his nieces and nephew.
The funeral took place on June 10 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Gayaganga, Darjeeling Dt, India.Two memorial services were also held in Pickering and Halifax, Canada on September 6, 2014.
