St. Mary’s School, which serves students from the Indigenous Khasi tribe in the rural village of Meweit, India, now has four laptops, an LED projector and a screen, thanks to support from Canadian Jesuits International. 💻 🖥️ 🏫“These have been great blessings. They have been very helpful in making classes interesting and visually engaging,” said Fr. Gabriel Kharluni, SJ, school principal. “The teachers have access to them during classes and seminars.”The request for these teaching aides had been made by the Kohima Region of the Society of Jesus, a CJI partner. The school has 883 students, most of whom come from “socio-economically disadvantaged families,” said Fr. Kharluni. Of these, 343 students are female, and 540 are Catholic.“Our fees are low to make the school affordable to all, and as a result, our school is unable to acquire more modern tools that can facilitate classroom learning,” he added.#education #India #Jesuits #Kohima #Indigenous

On March 8, International Women’s Day, Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) renews its commitment to help advance gender equality and the human rights of all women and girls. As socio-political divisions threaten hard-won rights, we must stand together.
Across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, our Jesuit partners witness firsthand the struggles women face — from defending Indigenous land to obtaining education and economic opportunity. Despite some progress, gender inequality persists — from economic discrimination to violence and exclusion.
In response, CJI supports projects that help enable women and girls to avail of their legal and human rights, have equal access to education, be guaranteed equal economic and political participation, and live a life free from violence.
🌿 In Zambia, rural women farmers learn organic agriculture and leadership at Kasisi Agricultural Training Centre.
🍃 In India, tea plantation workers are empowered to claim their legal and econoic rights with the support of the Human Life Research and Development Centre.
🌏 Across Latin America, our Jesuit partners work with Indigenous women who fight for their land, water, and culture, knowing that "the cryRead the full statement: Click link in bio to visit our website, then click News, or go to http://bit.ly/SpeakUp4Women#IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #womensrights #socialjustice #genderequality

Donate now to CJI's 2025 Easter Appeal: Click link in bio : http://bit.ly/CJIEasterAppeal2025Easter is a time of joy and hope for Christians. Christ’s resurrection after his death on the cross is a powerful symbol of light overcoming darkness and God’s love overcoming death.Even as the state of the world threatens to overwhelm us – with wars and conflicts, climate
change, poverty, inequality, and other injustices – Easter tells us that God’s work continues. We see it in ordinary people – like you, our supporters, and our Jesuit partners in the Global South – who give selflessly so that others can live in peace and dignity. As the Psalm tells us, this work is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvelous.Canadian Jesuit International partners Comparte and Lok Manch illustrate God’s marvelous work in our midst. Your support will allow them to continue helping the poor and marginalized.#EasterAppeal #Jesuits #Canada #socialjustice
