The Board of Trustees of Canadian Jesuits International met on Saturday, November 11, in Toronto. Two new board members — Susanna Barnes and Patria Rivera — joined them for the first time.
The board approved new CJI projects for the fiscal year 2023-2024, discussed staff updates, and the process for creating a new strategic plan, among other things.
Father Jean Denis Saint Félix SJ, Superior of the Jesuits in Haiti, who was in town, joined them and CJI staff for half an hour and briefed them about the precarious situation in Port-au-Prince and other parts of the country. He also discussed the impact of a project that built 120 houses for families affected by the 2020 earthquake in Haiti. CJI coordinated the international support from the Xavier Network and Provincials’ Conference of Latin America (CPAL), and contributed $267,274 to the project.
