2015 Spring and Summer Newsletter

2015 Spring and Summer Newsletter

The 2015 spring and summer issue of Mission News of Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) is now available and may be downloaded in PDF format from here.

This issue is on the theme of ecology, reconciling with creation. In the lead article, Fr Patxi Alvarez SJ of the Jesuit Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat speaks of three different but inseparable requirements: to care for creation, to develop a new lifestyle, and to defend the most vulnerable persons. There are also feature articles in this issue on sustainable organic tea farming in India, on no-till farming in Zambia, and on rehabilitation efforts in ecologically sensitive areas of the Philippines in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan.

Other highlights in this issue include: a summary of an interview with Fr Daniel Syauswa SJ of the Democratic Republic of the Congo on ecology and conflict, and news of fundraising for Syrian refugees by St Patrick’s Church in Markham, Ontario, and for Jesu Ashram in Darjeeling, India, by St Boniface Church in Zurich, Ontario.

Also included in this newsletter is an insert appealing for relief for earthquake victims in Nepal. The insert may be viewed or downloaded from here.
