The Jesuit Migration Network (RJM-CANA in Spanish) provides humanitarian assistance and accompaniment to thousands of vulnerable migrants and refugees from Central America and, more recently, from South America and other parts of the world who are making their way to North America.
Thousands of people fleeing conflict, violence, human rights abuses, and economic and political crises are provided with food, medicine, temporary shelter, psychosocial and spiritual support, and legal advice.
In keeping with the commitment of the Universal Apostolic Preferences of the Society of Jesus to "walk with the poor, the outcasts of the world, those whose dignity has been violated, in a mission of reconciliation and justice," the network also defends their rights through advocacy. The network works not only with migrants, refugees, and their families, but also with other people and groups involved in defending the rights of displaced persons in countries of origin, transit, destination and return.
