Canadian Jesuits International (CJI) supports the Sowing Seeds of Transformation project of the Jesuits Eastern Africa (AOR) Province. This project helps local communities in South Sudan get education and support. It also helps strengthen their learning centers and community institutions.

South Sudan faces significant socio-economic challenges that affect education, livelihoods and overall development. It has one of the youngest populations in the world, with more than 70% of its population being young people. While this young population is a valuable resource, it also presents challenges for South Sudan. The cycle of poverty is perpetuated by high unemployment and limited access to education, skills training and viable economic opportunities among young people. In South Sudan, girls face significant barriers to education and are more likely to die in childbirth than to complete secondary school.

The AOR is helping to address these challenges through nine Jesuit apostolates: Loyola Secondary School (Wau), St. Peter Faber Primary School, Multi-educational and Agricultural Jesuit Institute of South Sudan (MAJIS), St. Peter Claver Ecological and Computer Center, Mazzolari Teachers' College, Victor Luke Odhiambo Memorial Secondary School, St. Justina Primary School, St. Teresa Kindergarten School, and Jesuit Hakimani Center, South Sudan.  Education is given priority because it is needed, and it transforms lives.

CJI has supported the Sowing Seeds of Transformation project for years. Its programs have helped thousands of people.
